All participants are invited to join one of the three technical visits which will be held on 16 July 2008 (Wednesday). Each visit provides participants with the opportunity to view the latest information and gain first-hand experience of ITS applications in Singapore.

Each technical visit has limited spaces and participants are encouraged to register early as spaces are allocated on a first-come-first served basis. Please indicate your interest to attend on the Registration Form. The Conference Secretariat will contact you with more information shortly.

T1: Land Transport Gallery - Come and experience the evolution of Singapore's Land Transport!

The Land Transport Gallery explains in a fun and interactive way, the development of Singapore’s land transport over time and how improvements have been made possible. Experience the issues surrounding land transport in the past and present. Then fast forward to see how the future transportation landscapes might be.

 

T2: The Intelligent Transport Systems Centre (ITSC)Monitoring and managing Singapore's Road Network

The centre operates 24 hours a day throughout the year. Started in 1991, initially to control the Central Expressway Tunnels’ operations, its role has been enlarged over the years to include operations of the Expressway Monitoring and Advisory System (EMAS), the Green Link Determining (GLIDE) System for computerised traffic signal control and the Junction Electronic Eyes (J-Eyes) system for traffic surveillance.

 

T3: Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) Control CentreKeeping the roads flowing

Visitors would be given an overview of the ERP system, as an effective traffic management tool to optimise road usage, the various components used for vehicle detection, charging and enforcement as well as the impact on traffic as a result of its introduction.

 

T4: Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) & Control Centre -The longest underground expressway in South East Asia

A 12km Dual 3 lane expressway, with 9km built entirely underground and under-crossing Geylang River and the Pelton Canal. KPE features state-of-the-art systems for integrated traffic control, plant monitoring, fire protection, and communications.
